“I hate my job, I just went through a breakup, and I haven’t seen my therapist in three months. But the good news is, I listened to myself and quit the job that was triggering me. And I’ve been diving headfirst into church again. I want to make God, prayer, and church a priority.

 

In church on Sunday, they were saying, ‘You're praying on this and that, praying for what you want – but you don't have what you need in order to be blessed with that.’ They said, ‘You're carrying these boxes filled with anger, depression and trauma, but you can't hold the box for the blessing that's trying to be given to you – because you won't let go of these other boxes. Maybe you haven't reached what you need to get that blessing.’

 

I have this Bible app, and I'm on a 205 day streak of studying it. And I feel like that's my number one saving grace right now. It's like two minutes out of my day, and it makes me feel good. Like I'm on track with my intention.

 

The Bible app takes one verse at a time and has a pastor or a person to explain the verse to you. It gives you a little devotional, and there’s another section where you can go through your prayer list and do a guided prayer. You can also take notes.

 

And if you're dealing with depression, if you're dealing with anger, if you're dealing with loss – it has specific programs, like a 3 day or a 10 day guide. It'll give you specific verses that pertain to that theme. And then it'll give you deeper readings, and it'll ask you questions and help you put things into perspective.

 

So I’m practicing and I’m praying. There’s a lot to pray for. But I feel like prayer is going to help me because I can't do it all on my own. Like, ‘God, please help me get a hold of myself because I'm my own worst enemy. I can literally destroy everything in front of me just by being angry.’”
