SCOTT'S STORY PT 5
“The military exit program I have always fantasized about I’ve actually put it in front of senators and people of power. In Washington, they’re like, ‘Hey, come up here and talk.’ And we say, ‘Okay, cool.’ We spend our own money to go to Washington. Our flights, our hotel, our Ubers, everything. We go and we sit for 4 hours waiting for these elected officials to get their fucking heads out of their ass to sit in a room with us. And then it’s like talking to a wall.
We beg them. We plead, ‘Sir, we just need $2.8 million for this program. Just two points in your almost trillion dollar defense program. We just need $2.8 million for a veteran’s program. A program that’s proven to save lives.’
They say, ‘We really appreciate you coming up here and taking your time. And we honor your service. We’ll get back to you.’ Then the following day, they’ll cut a $20 billion aid package to Israel. I support strength abroad, but not at the expense of the veterans. It’s just not right.
And the U.S. military wonders why they can’t meet their mission recruitment requirements. Because everybody is waking up to the fact that they fuck us and don’t care.”
