SCOTT'S STORY PT 2

a living room with a couch, end table, plants, lamp, and the words WELCOME HOME!

“Any military veteran will tell you there’s no programs reintegrating you back into regular society. The military just says, ‘Thank you very much. Goodbye.’ They’re not fulfilling their contracts. We sign the contracts, and we do every single thing they tell us to do. Go kill this person. Yes sir. Go do this. Yes sir. But after we’re done, we come home and we’re like, ‘Hey, we need some help.’ They’re like, ‘Fuck you.’ It’s bullshit.

Fuck that trillion dollar new aircraft carrier that we don’t need. How bout you put half of that money into programs that put veterans back into the real world? How about that last year or last six months of their contract, you take them off the combat line and you put them in a program with other veterans who are also getting ready to leave?

Let’s say you came from Montana. Well guess what? We’ve got a great facility just outside of Missoula that will help you integrate back into society. You’re still getting up, you’re still doing Army shit. But the other half of the day, you’re learning how to fucking talk without dropping an F-bomb every other word. You’re learning how to integrate back into society without thinking everybody’s got a bomb strapped to their fucking chest.

But the military doesn’t do that. They keep you on the line right up til about a month prior, and then they start to transition you out. And it’s all paperwork and just making sure you’re not fucked up in your head enough that you’re going to blame them.”
