Storytelling

Documentarian

I’m a Los Angeles-based creative code cracker – powered by curiosity, equip with a BS degree in broadcast journalism, and years of experience writing, field producing, directing, interviewing, editing, and supervising documentary-style crews for TV/film production companies, businesses, and private clients.

My documentary storytelling work has been viewed on TV, online, at charity events, memorials, and on a 40-foot movie screen in an art deco theater with the Secret Service in attendance.

Back Story

My career started in news – I have a broadcast journalism degree from Emerson College, and worked for a local news station in Boston before I was hired at MTV News in Los Angeles.

I learned early on how to interview anyone, anywhere, anytime about anything – and find the story, find the characters, understand the timeline, and discover details that are relatable and will really resonate with audiences.

Then I moved from news into documentary TV and digital content, where I sharpened my storytelling skills – crafting and presenting authentic, first-person profiles and uplifting, meaningful messages + storylines of pain, coping, courage, hope and healing.

“Brandy brings tremendous integrity to her work and every word, every shot, every score, every edit is infused with a deep commitment to
THE STORY.”

20+ years experience

In my 20s, I spent years visiting Hollywood film & music video sets as the behind-the-scenes crew for MTV News.

I've continued documenting people on stage, backstage, and in sacred spaces. I have chronicled life-saving rats in Africa, women giving birth in America, the inner-workings of restaurant kitchens, and I survived spending one month living on a tour bus with 10 crew guys.

Two decades of saying YES to incredible freelance opportunities has led me to profile people all over the planet – A-list entertainers, athletes, politicians, authors, chefs, CEOs, storm chasers, war veterans, hostage negotiators, trauma survivors, grievers, doctors, social workers, newlyweds, expecting families, and The Amish – for outlets like Apple TV+, Discovery+, Nat Geo, Bravo, Oxygen, NBC, CBS, MTV, CMT, and TLC.
